Troop History

Omaha Troop 405 was organized and chartered in April 2004 with Living Faith United Methodist Church located at 5310 South 182nd Avenue, Omaha, NE, 68135. We are affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America Mid-America Council Black Hawk District. All Troop activities are organized and directed by the Scouts under the supervision of the Adult Leadership. We meet every Monday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. All scheduled activities are posted on the Troop's Activity Calendar. Come join us to learn more about Troop 405!

First Year Program

The first-year program eases the transition into Scouts BSA by emphasizing core outdoor skills such as first aid, knot-tying, knife, and fire safety. During their first year, Scouts have the opportunity to earn their Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks. First-year progress is closely monitored and Scouts receive a significant amount of individual attention from Adult Leaders and parent volunteers.

Advancement

Rank advancement is generally completed during meetings and campouts. Merit Badges are generally completed through independent study or at Merit Badge clinics and week-long summer camps.

Outdoor Activities

Troop 405 has an extensive outdoor program consisting of backpacking, camping, canoeing, cycling, hiking, kayaking, fishing, shooting sports, and community service projects. At least one outdoor activity is held each month.

Adult Leadership and Parental Roles

Troop 405 enjoys a tremendous amount of support and involvement from its Adult Leaders and parent volunteers. Being a good leader requires many different areas of expertise beyond outdoor skills. The Scouting program provides many training opportunities to help parents develop their leadership goals. Please volunteer to fill a role or assist another leader in guiding Scouts towards learning new skills. Your son will learn more if he sees you support his Scouting progress!
